Remain Announces Workforce Housing Survey for Nantucket Employers

The survey will gather data to better understand housing challenges and opportunities across the island

NANTUCKET, MA — Remain announced today that it has partnered with EBP US to launch a workforce housing survey aimed at better understanding how employer-supported housing is shaping Nantucket’s economy and year-round community.

The survey is part of a broader effort by Remain to assess the role employers play in supporting housing for their workforce and to better understand the challenges and tradeoffs for businesses. The information gathered will inform a comprehensive analysis of employer-supported housing on Nantucket prepared by EBP, as commissioned by Remain. The survey will be released to the public beginning this week.

Through this survey, Remain and EBP are working to identify the number and types of employer-supported housing units currently in use, understand how the need to provide housing impacts business operations and workforce sustainability and explore new approaches and models to address ongoing housing challenges.

“Addressing housing on Nantucket requires clear data and a shared understanding of what’s working and where gaps exist,” said Cecil Barron Jensen, executive director of Remain. “This survey is an important step in building that understanding and identifying solutions that support both our workforce and our local businesses.”

EBP US brings more than 30 years of experience helping public and private sector clients address complex economic development challenges that shape communities. Founded in 1996 in Boston as Economic Development Research Group, the firm has been part of the global EBP family of companies since 2016.

Remain encourages employers who house employees across Nantucket to participate in the survey and share their experiences. Responses will be aggregated, shared with the public and used to help guide future planning, partnerships and strategies aimed at strengthening the island’s year-round community.

To access the survey, please follow this link. The survey will remain open for two weeks and should take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
